Q: Escitalopram oxalate+clonezapam: how long will take to get the COMPLETE effect?
After having tried i have been prescribed Escitalopram oxalate. How long will it take to get the complte effect. First week i felt very better but again nothing. How long you would say that I would feel the complete efftect of the medicine. How long this med could be taken safely

A: get to your physician man.Its dangerous to get info from amateurs.

Q: What is the effect of the tablet Escitalopram oxalate?
Why is it given to the patients?

A: The brand name for this product is Lexapro and it is generally used for depression, but can also be used for a host of other things, including anxiety disorders. It falls into the category of SSRI (Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor)

Q: Does Escitalopram oxalate tablet cause sleep?
What are the sideeffects of this tablet?

A: Most SSRIs cause drowsiness and Escitalopram is no different. It also can cause nausea and gastrointestinal problems.

Q: can anti depressants and anxiety medicenes like escitalopram oxalate and clonazepam cause withdrawal symptems
can anti depressants and anxiety medicenes like escitalopram oxalate and clonazepam cause withdrawal symptems like stiff neck and headaches after six months of stopping them

A: Yes, clonazepam can cause many withdrawl syptoms.

Q: My doctor prescibed me escitalopram oxalate 10mg to quit smoking marijuarna is there anything i need to know a?
I have been smoking marijuarna for the last 5yrs. My doctor prescribed me escitalopram oxalate 10mg to help me quit. Is there anything i need to know.
i know marijuarna is not adictive but cause i have smoke for so long its a habit i think he gave me these for anxiety.
and if i do smoke marijuarna when taking it what will it do to me. Will i be extra high
oh he also gave me TEMAZE 10mg

A: Yeah, don’t take it. Your doctor is an idiot!
lol
Edit- He/she gave you anti-depressants so that you stop smoking trees which is NOT smart because the anti-depressants he/she prescribed to you wil do you a lot more harm that the trees will do to you.
I know how much it SUCKS when you have to stop smoking after a long peroid of time that you’ve been doing it every day several times a day. It sucks soooo bad & all you can do is think about how great it would be if you could smoke right now i know but the anti-Ds your doctor gave you will not make things any better this is just one drug to cover up another & that’s not so smart. I know that the difference for you may be that you need to be able to focus & you can do that better with anti-Ds maybe you need to go to work, or school, or wherever it may be, somewhere that requires focus & not being “high” to do..idk why it is that you’re quitting but i can tell you that nothing can be weed,& nothing can take the place of the high weed gave you. Anti-Ds will just get you hooked on the man made stuff & will be a worse choice in the long run. I guess what i’m trying to say is they won’t do what they’re ment to do which is help you to quit weed.
Sorry this kinda feels like a long rant i just can’t seem to express my point to you effectively for some reason today…but i hope that at least you get the gist! Haha

As for if you will be higher if you take them both together uhm yeah weed enhances the effects of other drugs so most likely you will..haha
Peace <2

Q: Doctors pls tell what r this tabs use for FLUOXETINE UPS 20MG & ESCITALOPRAM OXALATE 10MG ?
Well I’ve been given this tabs by a DR but the doctor I consultant she didn’t listen to my problems properly so i want to know what this tabs in detail and pls let me also know if i can take alcohol with it

A: If you simply search the drug names you will get your answers. Both of these drugs are SSRI. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors. Essentially these drugs limit the re uptake of the chemical manufactured by your brain called Serotonin. They are both used to to treat clinical depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders. Are you taking them at the same time together or did she give you just one of these?

It is advised that you do not drink alcohol with these drugs, they can cause drowsiness, and may increase the symptoms that got you on these drugs in the first place. You can also increase your chances of serotonin toxicity which can be fatal.

Q: can escitalopram oxalate 10mg cause addiction.?
please tell me if daily intake of this medicine 10mg tab cause addiction, and does it effects the sexual behaviour of a person.

A: No it will not cause addiction. It is an antidepressant and it does affect levels of dopamine. It has relatively no action on the reward pathways in the brain. It will not cause addiction.

Now for sexual activity, anti-deps are known to mess with libido. SSRIs particularly can lower one’s libido. Only Wellbutrin doesn’t seem to have this effect. But from experience I can say that with Escitalopram, it has the best side-effects profile amongst SSRI anti-depressants and it affects libido (sex drive) the *least*. However, please bear in mind that everybody responds differently to drugs.

Hope this helps

Q: Is “escitalopram oxalate” a “MAOI”?
anybody know? thanks.

A: Escitalopram oxalate, better known by its common name Lexapro, is a type of antidepressant called a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which is used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and some personality disorders.

MAOIs, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, are different compounds that are used to treat atypical and severe depressions as a last resort when selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as escitalopram oxalate are unsuccessful.

So both are different classes of compounds, but are used to treat the same thing.

Q: When taking (Ciraplex) Escitalopram oxalate tablets (antidepressant) should I take it at the same time every d?
at the same time every day?
Today the second day I took it 2 hours too late.
though I read on the paper just now (the one inside the box)
to take the pill the next day when it’s due.
Though it didn’t say when.
The doctor gave me 14 sample pills so I hadn’t gave a subscription yet.
I am not sure if he did or didn’t tell me when to take it.
He did say (and so do the instructions) that I can take it with or without food or water.

This drugs is an anti deppresent and helps with generalized anxiety.
I did read the instructions! All of it!! I just don’t remember what he told me. What I am taking is a sample. Given by the psychiatrist.
the instructions said to take it with or without food. There is only ONE dosage. I stay on it and I will feel the effects over time (a long while). It said that I can take it with or without water.
and the perscription is yet to be used.

A: Okay, well if the instructions say something like “take one pill daily” – you would probably do well to take it ONCE in a 24-hour period. Otherwise, you’re overdosing AND under dosing your body. Example – say you’re supposed to take it once a day and you started taking it at 6p last night. Today, it’s 8p and you realized that you forgot to take your pill. Now you’re underdosed because there’s two hours when there was no medication working at all. So you take the pill. Everything is fine. Tomorrow you take the pill at 6p on the dot. Now you overdosed because you took another pill in under 24 hours. And for at least the next two hours you’ll have twice as much medication as was prescribed.

Whenever I have to take a daily pill I treat it like birth control pills – take them the same time every day. Usually during a morning or nightly routine so that I won’t forget. If you choose to do it in the morning – put the pills in the bathroom cabinet where you keep your toothpaste so that you can’t help but to see it and take it before you start brushing your teeth. If you choose to do it at night, after work, put it right on the stand where you put your watch or near the phone where you check your messages (or anywhere that you are inclined to go to on a nightly basis) so you can see it and take it right away.Whatever you choose just be consistent.

Q: can i use clonazepam with escitalopram oxalate for my depresion and anxiety?
i have been prescribed above mentioned medications for anxiety and depresion

A: If they were prescribed for that, then why not? The doctor and pharmacist should have notified you of any possible drug interactions if there were any.

Q: can i take clonzapam 4mg with 1 beer?
i am on nexito plus medication( escitalopram oxalate 40mg+ clonzapam 4mg) can i drink one beer?

if it gives me only sedation no problem… it won’t kill me na?

A: I am pretty sure that you were told not, decided to have a beer with it anyway and only look for answers that tell you that you can do it….so no matter who tells you what, you already decided to do this…..

Q: Missing 2 citalopram doses, will it harm me?
I ran out yesterday, and as i usually take them at night there was nothing i could do. I was supposed to go and pick up my prescription this afternoon but have been so rushed off my feet I forgot again :S I can (hopefully) go and pick it up tomorrow morning but will it harm me not taking it twice in a row? I am on 20mg a day. My auntie has given me some of her tablets which are escitalopram oxalate (cipralex) which I am not sure to take. Any advice would be grateful

A: Missing two doses will not physically harm you. However, you may find that you are more anxious or depressed than normal, because the therapeutic level of the drug has dropped in your body (and therefore it isn’t doing its job). Once you begin to take the citalopram regularly again, you will begin to feel back to normal. DO NOT double up; you are on 20mg because that is the correct dose for you, any more is too much for you.

Also, DO NOT take your aunt’s medication. Escitalopram oxalate is a completely different medication, you will likely react differently to it; and it may not even work for relieving your symptoms, or you may have side effects or adverse reactions.

It is always best to not skip doses of this medication. This is not because it will harm you, but because the more doses you skip, the lower the therapeutic level of the drug in your bloodstream is, and the less likely it is to work well for you.

Personally, I find if I skip a dose, I experience anxiety that I would not had I taken my dose. You need to continuously supply your body with the medication to keep the levels stable.

Best of luck to you.

Q: Starving yourself and taking pills?
What happens when your starve yourself but decide to take a escitalopram oxalate pill each day? Won’t you eventually die? I mean you aren’t getting anything but pills in your system…

A: Yes you will die and damage your body. Being without any food in just 24 hours you body’s metabolism starts to slow down to protect the vital organs, brain, heart, liver…etc. Then it starts to feed on the muscles, not fat. Fat is important to the body that why we gain so much of it when we over eat.

Ingesting pills instead of real food is setting yourself up for unintended consequences.

Q: Will Lexapro cause weight gain?
just wondering, im taking lexapro for depression and wondering will this increase weight? My next visit to the doctor aint for a month and am just wondering.

its
escitalopram oxalate

Ty all, i could do with some weight gain.

was 74 kilos until depression wiped a year off my life hit 60 kilos or about 130 lbs which was mostly muscle lose.

on 5% body fat now, (need some fat) so look forward to this side effect.

thank you.

A: hmm, i think it may actually cause weight LOSS
im not sure if im thinking of the right name though..
ill check and edit

*sorry, i was thinking of a different one! i looked it up, and yes, it MAY cause weight gain, but sie effects vary from person to person

Q: social anxiety… medicines dont work? and general advice…?
i’ve been aware of my social anxiety for 5 years now. i thought id be able to figure it out myself, until i realized i needed help

so a lil over a year ago, i went to the counsellor… basically he didn’t help me at all…

I did end up going to a psychiatrist, and have been seeing him for lil over 6mths now. he’s given me escitalopram oxalate tablets (called Nexito), and i visit him once every 2-3 weeks… was taking 10mg, then 15, and now back to 10.

so my point is… i feel like i haven’t improved at all. the meds have had no effect. i still cant talk to people. i’m living alone, no one knows im taking meds, nor can i tell anyone about it. Wondering if i should continue seeing the psychiatrist. i dont feel he’s helped me much.

feel like i’m losing hope, bcoz i really have been trying. besides i guess loneliness is really creeping in…away from home, never dated, cant talk to people. it was super difficult to approach a psychiatrist, and now i feel im left helpless. any advice?

A: SSRI are known to be very ineffective for social anxiety (http://www.socialfear.com/ ) . However this is only the case if the social anxiety is the ONLY problem.

CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) is an extremely effective method if conducted correctly. That is, if your therapist is an expert in giving this.

Your psychiatrist should have started giving/suggesting CBT before or at least in combination with the medication. The fact that your psychiatrist has only given you medication is very bad.

EDIT:
On the other hand CBT already requires a level of social interaction that may be too much at this stage. You may need to ask for other meds or to increase them. But in the end only CBT can help.

Q: Can I take allegra and prilosec together?
Hi. I just got switched to allegra from claritin. It says don’t take with antacids. Does that mean tums? Or do I have to wait to take my prilosec too? It says two hours, buy from what I read online, Its the calcium not the prilosec that is the problem. If anyone knows the answer thank you.

A: It should mean all antacids, because they inhibit absorption. So the med is uneffective.

Q: does anyone know a good international online pharmacy i can buy cold and flu medicine from?
I want to purchase either allegra d or telfast d from an international pharmacy. does anyone know a legit one? they have psuedoephedrine in them

A: Why do you need psuedoephedrine? Are you making illegal drugs?

Q: Can i take Allegra-D and Zyrtec at the same time?
I have tried looking online and can’t find anything that says yes or no.

A: Biggest problem with this is that it will dry out your mucus tissues something awful. That is too much of the same medication. If you do it, drink a ton of water or your eyes and nose…even mouth is going to be SO VERY DRY. It also makes germs “stick” more easily due to dry membranes and you can catch viruses more easily.

Q: What does the Spanish word “Allegra” mean in English?
I may be spelling it wrong because online translators are not helping. I heard it spoken about a woman and am curious what it meant!

Thank you!

A: Alegria–Happiness
Alegre–Happy; Cheerful

Q: Allegra………?????
Allegra question: Medicine Allegra or Allegra D. How many use allegra for allergies? Is Allegra effective? Is allegra available to buy online? Do you need a prescription to buy Allegra?Help! My allergies symptoms are sneezing, my nose, throat are itchy, My eyes are all all itchy, red and watery too.

A: http://www.rxdeliveredfast.com/allegra.php

.Allegra is the best! Allegra allergy medication saved me from the worst allergies! Allegra D is the same as Allegra, but it is for seasonal allergies with congestion. Just one long lasting allegra d tablet provides powerful relief from seasonal allergy symptoms for a full 24 hours. Allegra doesn’t make you drowsy, So, if you need long-lasting allergy symptom relief – but you can’t afford to feel drowsy – choose Allegra 180 mg. I Buy Allegra online at RxDeliveredFAST. Com. They really are the fastest! They offer Overnight Fed ex delivery! You do need a prescription for Allegra medication. At RxDeliveredFAST. com, just select the medicines you need, fill in the medical questionnaire, and submit your order. they have US Licensed Physicians review your order and issue your prescription. Next, A U.S. Licensed Pharmacy will dispense via Fedex next day delivery. Good luck!

Q: Allegra D & decreased urination?
Okay so a friend at my work is sick & started taking Allegra D & has noticed that when he has to urinate it seems that either he cant go or doesnt go very much. I pulled up info on Allegra & it said that is a serious side effect & that he should stop taking it & call his Dr….ok, but our question is this, WHY would Allegra cause this? What does it do to the body that would cause this problem? I tried to find out online but am coming up empty…..thanks so much we’re a bit worried..Thanks♥

A: The “D” in Allegra D signifies a decongestant component. Probably pseudophedrine. That is probably what is causing the symptoms you mention. If you are not suffering problems with bad congestion of your sinuses you don’t need this. Try regular Allegra, not D, and see if this helps.

Q: How can I watch old nick jr. shows online?
shows like allegra’s window, eureka’s castle, the busy world of Richard scarry, etc.

A: I use http://tvshowsadvanced.info

Q: Need help with generic allegra… are these the same pills?
I used to take this one:

http://www.pharmer.org/files/images/Picture%204.jpg

But now my refill looks like this:

http://www.drugs.com/images/pills/mmx/t102689b/allegra.jpg

I’m told by the pharmacist they are the exact same thing. I looked it up online and it says they are the same thing.

But my allergy symptoms are headaches and they seem to be coming back since switching. Coincidence?

A: they are the same thing. Most companies will make the same pill put them in a name brand bottle and then put the same pill in a GENERIC bottle and sell it for less than the brand name. and sell twice as many. it is called marketing.

Q: Anyone remember that show Allegra’s Window?
I think it used to be on nickelodeon like 12 years ago… Also does anyone know where I could watch eps of that show online? lol I know I’m losery. I just want to remember it more clearly.

A: yes i remember it, it had the purple puppet with the dreadlocks. I didn’t watch it though. I’m even older then that, i liked pinwheel and todays special. Anyways, not sure where you can watch em. I’ve been looking to watch some old nick shows myself and never can find em online. Good luck to you

Q: Does Fexofenadine (Allegra) cause depression?
I’ve been taking fexofenadine for the past couple months for my allergies. Within the past two weeks I have become depressed. I looked it up online it says that depression is a side effect. Have any of you heard of anything?

A: One of Allegra’s side effects is a change in mood. This is also a side effect that warrants immediate contact with your doctor. If you have not contacted your doctor to tell him of this problem, please do so immediately. He will probably want to switch you to another allergy medication.

Q: Seattle-area members with allergies – does Zyrtec work for you?
I didn’t have any allergies until I moved up here from South Florida. I haven’t been tested but I’m probably allergic to pine or the pollens that we have here. Allegra D works well for me but even on my insurance it costs me over $60 for 30 tabs and during the spring I have to take two tablets a day so that’s $4 a day just so I can breath! Allegra D is off-the-shelf in Canada so I pick a few boxes up when I’m up there or order them online from a Canadian drug store which only costs me about $20 a box.

I’m wondering if anyone with similar allergies up here (again UP HERE I don’t want to hear from those of you that frequent the Seattle section that don’t live here) have tried Zyrtec now that it’s no longer prescription? Would be much easier if I could just buy that at local stores then deal with my Canadian allergy med smuggling lol
https://www.canadadrugsuperstore.com that’s the one I use for the Allegra D
Thanks, Pretty Kitty!

A: My boyfriend does (I’m in Seattle, he’s in Olympia but he’s got allergies everywhere we go).

Nothing seems to work for him unfortunately. I will pass on the useful info about Canadian meds to him though, thanks to you!

Q: Migraines are making me crazy! Please help if you have them.?
My mother has suffered from migraines her whole life, and we always knew there was a chance I would inherit that from her. I moved to a different state in July. Since I’ve lived here, I’ve had weird problems with my earwax building up and not draining – causing my ears to ring. My ent prescribed Allegra 180mg, but my ears still ring. Well in September, I had a terrible headache and went to the doctor. I told him my mom had migraines, we talked about my symptoms, and he diagnosed it as a migraine and gave me Midrin. I had told him I wanted to start with one of the weaker meds to see if it worked. The headache went away after 3-4 days, but my eyes were sort of sore for a week or so after. It’s like, if I look up, down, left, or right as far as I can, it’s like a sore achy feeling. My mom says she gets this before and after her migraines. It finally went away and I forgot about it. I just had my second migraine this past week. My eyes got really sore for about a week, and then it hit me really hard one morning. I puked my guts up, and continued the Midrin. The headache actually left fairly quickly, but I was left with a dull achy feeling for about a day after. Today I keep feeling like I’m completely better, but then I’ll feel a dull pain that reminds me. My mom says this is how hers feel, but when I research migraines online, it points me toward brain tumors and aneurysms and I’m going nuts! All the symptoms are the same!! How are you supposed to know whether you have something worse? My husband says if I had an aneurysm or tumor, I would have more physical symptoms like confusion, personality changes, dizziness, etc. I’m 22, by the way, and have always been a healthy person, healthy weight, etc. The only thing that changed in Sept was I started a new birth control. Help from ANYONE with migraines would be appreciated. Do you have eye pain? Thanks so much to anyone who can help.

A: Poor you i suffered Migraines for years all the same symptoms as you and some even worse. I have had them where i cannot see i get curtains in front of my eyes and it is so scary and of course when you are scared it makes your headaches and some of the other symptoms worse. My daughter inherited them from me when she was in her 20,s and she only gets really bad ones if she is really stressed either in her personal life or work. Do not look on the internet at brain tumours etc., it will send you nuts. Remember you have migraines nothing worse although they in themselves are painful.
I also suffer from tinititus noises in the ear and i get lots of wax build up i was told to use ear plugs when swimming and having showers as this could cause the ear wax to get worse and it does. This will clear up in time mine did, but then again sometimes it comes back. But if these are all the worse things you suffer from then its not so bad. Good luck in managing it all take care.

Q: Comparable Prescription To Ponstel?
I have been taking Ponstel for severe menstrual cramps (primary dysmenorrhea) for years and completely love it! However, my insurance just decided not to cover it anymore, and I can’t pay full price of around $250 per bottle. I found a drug online called Buscopan, which seemed good, but it said not to take with antihistamines, but I take Allegra on a daily basis, so I had to nix that idea.

Does anybody know by experience of any other comparable medications? (I’m allergic to Naproxen.)
I need to correct myself…I haven’t taken it for years straight. I started taking it several years ago, but only for the first 5 days I’m off my BCP. And, since I take my BCP for 3 months straight, I only take it 4 times a year.

And, actually, I just went to my pharmacist today and they can get the generic, but it’s $290 for a bottle of 30. That’s CRAZY!!!! FOR GENERIC?!?!?!?!

A: Ponstel (also called Mefanamic Acid) is not yet available in the generic form, at least in the United States. However, it is a pain reliever, an NSAID like ibupofen, naproxen, ketorolac, and several others. Even if you can’t take naproxen, you and your doctor may be able to find an alterantive that will work for you. There are literally more than a dozen choices now, and with Ponstel costing so outrageously much (!!), it is worth trying some of the others.

By the way, I don’t know how many days a month you take Ponstel, but it is meant for short-term use only. I think the maximum is about 7 days. If you are taking “for years,” it’s time to talk with your doctor anyway. It may be a good idea to switch to something else.

I hope this helps, and I wish you good luck.

Q: When wiil the drug Avapro be available in gerentic?

A: Not until at least 2008 and even then if they re-work the formula into an extended release formula, they can extend their trademark an additional 7 years thus not making it available until 2015.

Try Diovan or Benicar instead. They’re in the same family but less expensive.

Do NOT go to an online pharmacy. They’re not goverment regulated and they could send you sugar in a pill and market it as whatever they wanted to and charge you whatever. If you’re finding the Avapro to be too expensive, go to the website of whomever makes it and apply for their prescription relief program. It makes prescriptions cheaper and it’s easy to apply for.

Q: I need a service rep to contact us about Avapro?
Avapro has been taken off our formulary and it is the best drug for my husband to use. I would like to find out who sets these formularies and want BristolMyers Squibb to know we are very disatisfied with this. We are forced to use Express Scripts with our Insurance.

A: 1) Formularies are set by insurance companies. One of the determining factors as to which drugs (in a particular class)are covered is price. The insurance company may request “bids” from drug companies. For example, Avapro is called an “ACE receptor blocker”. Others are valsartan, etc. The company that bids lowest gets their drug on formaulary.

2) Your complaint lies with the insurance company and Express Scripts. The drug company (BMS) has little to do with it.

3) Most insurance companies will allow you to get non-formulary medications, but you’ll pay more.

4) If yout husband hasn’t tried other drugs in Avapro’s class, talk to your MD/PA/NP about trying a formulary drug.

Q: Differences bewtween BENICAR 20 mg and AVAPRO 150 MG?
I would like to know the differences between benicar 20 mg and Avapro 150 mg.

or Is Avapro 150 mg euivalent or less strength drug compared to Benicar 20 mg in order to control blood pressure.

A: Both drugs are antihypertensives of the class “angiotensin II receptor antagonists”. They’re pretty much equivalent drugs.

You can’t compare drugs simply by the # of milligrams.

Q: Is there a generic for the hypertensive drugs , angiotension II receptor antagonist?
I take Avapro but it is expensive, there is no generic out yet. My doctor says there is a generic in that same class of drugs coming out this year. Does anyone know about it?
I cannot use the ones ending in “pril” as they make me cough uncontrollably. Will look up both those thanks.

A: There are generic names for them but no actual generic drugs yet. My doctor told me the same thing, to start looking for one of those in that class to go generic soon.

Q: My sister was given three scripts for blood pressure meds.
Her dr. gave her Verapamil, Lisinopril, and Avapro. He told her to take them all at once. She is very sensitive to any kind of drug and I KNOW the dr. told her to take them all at once, but I am worried it may be too much for her. Isn’t this a lot of pills to take at one time for blood pressure? Would it make more sense to spread them out during the day? She has been on other meds, but due to cost he changed her scripts.

A: This is a question you should be asking the Dr or a pharmacist. The 3 drugs she has been given work in different ways. Its common to give more than one type of drug to treat blood pressure.

Lisinopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Angiotensin is a chemical that is made by the body continuously. It narrows blood vessels and thereby maintains (elevates) blood pressure. When the enzyme is blocked by lisinopril, angiotensin cannot be converted into its active form. As a result, blood vessels dilate and blood pressure falls.

Lisinpril:- Treatment of vasospastic (Prinzmetal variant), chronic stable (classic effort–associated), and unstable (crescendo, preinfarction) angina; adjunctive treatment with digitalis to control ventricular rate at rest and during stress in atrial flutter or fibrillation; prophylaxis of repetitive paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia; management of essential hypertension. (hypertension can cause BP problems)

AVAPRO is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.

So the 3 drugs will work together to help the BP problems. That is why all 3 should be taken together at the same time every day. Like I said any pharmacist can give you advice on these medications. Your sisters Dr can also talk her through what he has given the drugs for. The main thing is your sister should not just stop taking these because you think it seems a lot for her to take. Not taking them can do a lot more harm in the long run. Blood pressure problems especially high can lead to other serious medical conditions if left untreated.

Q: Cross reference my prescriptions drugs to see if no harmful interaction.?
Taking prescribed meds from family Dr. & 1 referal Dr.
Would like information on the possible harmful interaction.
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE-plendil TBCR 10mg/daily, Novo-fosinopril tab 20mg/daily. ALSO TAKING Nu-simvastatin tab 40mg/daily,Avapro tabs 300mg/daily, Slow-K TBCR 8meq/3 daily.
Nu-furosemide tab 40mg/daily. RECOMMENDATION O-Calcium w/ vit. D.
REF. Dr. for hiatus(?) hernia, Pariet tab 10mg/daily
TAKING ON MY OWN, Salmon/fish oils 1000mg/daily
Amount of prescriptions has me a little bit concerned about possible harmful interaction.

A: Your doctor should have already used this tool, if you were honest with him/her about your “self-medication”, but if that is not the case, here’s where you can check:

Q: Who is in the wrong here?
For the past month our pharmacy had been working under a relief pharmacist. Not the boss, a stand in until the real pharmacist came in. A lady customer came into the pharmacy looking to refill her med of Avapro. Her insurance wouldn’t pay for it so the pharmacist told me to call the insurance to see what they would pay for. I did that and told her the substituted drugs. She then wanted to know, as I was checking out her other meds at the register, how much Avapro would cost if she got it cash. I was busy so the Pharmacist took it upon his self to look it up because he didn’t want to wait for me. He looked on some google site for the price and finds that “You Can Buy The Generic For Avapro Now’ and proceeds to tell the customer that there is a generic out now. I thought this was fishy b/c why didn’t the insurance company tell me to run the generic. So I look it up. There is no legal available generic for Avapro. I read that the Pardon for Avapro hasn’t expired yet. I try to tell him this, showing him legal documentation and he blurts out in front of my customer “there isn’t a generic b/c the ‘queen bee’ says there isn’t one.’ The customer replies “I just wanted to know the price” I looked up the price and told her and she left. I tried to explain myself to him and he said I was ‘full of it’ and “don’t tell me how to do my job”~! The reason I was so concerned in the first place was because I didn’t want to loose our customer. I didn’t want her to think there was a generic but we couldn’t get it and leave to go find it at another pharmacy. Who is in the wrong. Should I’ve kept my mouth shut (b/c technicians should NEVER council the patient) Or stand there as he gave her false information. I am really ticked about this. Let me know your opinion.

A: A lot of us have an idiot for a boss, you should quit and get a job where your customer service skills will be appreciated. Honestly, it’s tough working for people, I have to get a new job every year because I get sick of it, the only way I get through my day is to not take my job seriously, I don’t get paid well enough to be all stressed out about some dumb job. Next time just say whatever and flip him off when he leaves.

Q: is it advisable to take Atorvastatin tablets?
I got intense heart attack on 9th early morning for 3 times and got Angioplasty done from my right hand and after discharge from Hospital i was recommended AZTOR 40mg i have gone thru complete lipid profile test in which i have normal range of cholesterol, shall I continue or not please advise.

After reading this information on Atorvastatin which has very weird side effects and I’m confused now, I feel this completely slow poison, its better dying before than taking this medicine and waiting for all these mentioned side effects to occur.

Regards,
Krishna.

A: You are only just recovering from your angioplasty and you ought not to be worrying about everything at this stage, least of all about Atorvastatin!
While I do agree that it must have been prescribed more as a preventive than as a a therapeutic in this instance, as your blood lipid profile has come out normal, you could try and ask the doctor who prescribed it for you, whether it can be deferred at this stage!
Also (and this is really, really necessary) you could eat a ‘healthy, low-fat diet’, which is something that cannot have any side effects for you to worry about, at least!
Besides, there are several herbs that can help keep one’s lipids within limits. A preparation from red rice bran is in use to reduce serum cholesterol. I’m sure you will be happy to know that such alternatives are available!

Q: what is the cost of the following medicine : LIPITOR 80mg Tablets (28 tablets ) ATORVASTATIN CALCIUM (PFIZER).

A: The cost of Lipitor?
Angina, insomnia, dizziness, hypoaesthesia, arthralgia, back pain, anorexia, malaise, weight gain, amnesia, impotence, thrombocytopenia, tinnitus, alopecia
Also pancreatitis, peripheral neuropathy, peripheral oedema, cholestatic jaundice, hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome are less common “costs”.
Hope this helps!!

Q: Indian tablets for PLAVIX-75 mg (Clopidogrel )LIPITOR10 mg.(atorvastatin)European?
Heart disease medicines i.e. tablets.

A: Indian generic of these drugs are 1.clopica 2. Lipitas.

Hope this answers your question.

Q: the tablets..lipitor..40 mg..for cholesterol..atorvastatin..feel ill..you can help?
about 4 yrs ago..3 strokes,,im ok now..just my speech if im tired..reading on the internet..www.rereuron.com,,,,for strokes,diabetic,,,and retina…they can help..is in us,,,but,,coming soon to britain…soon,i hope..my brain power,,is not normal.but,,im still alive..but these tablets,,sometimes make me so ill….anybody,,,can help me..mary.

A: I was on Lipitor for three years. I suffered from: sore muscles, tiredness, agitation, digestion problems and anxiety. Finally my liver started to flare up and my doctor took me off of Lipitor.

WHAT A BLESSING! I feel 100 times better now than ever before!

To cut down on cholesterol naturally, I now take Bios Life. A natural fiber based product that is the ONLY one proven to lower cholesterol and backed by the Cleveland Clinic. Lost ten lbs. too!

Q: I’ve been prescribed Atorvastatin and am worried about side effects?
I was previously prescribed Simvastatin, but due to nasty side effects (weakness, fatigue, muscle pain) I cam off them, and declined my doctors advice to take another statin.I have had blood tests recently and my cholesterol level has gone back up to 7.4 so he has told me I sholud take another statin, and has prescribed Atorvastatin. Can anyone give me their personal experiences of Atorvastatin, as I am actually quite worried about what these tablets could do to me.

A: If you have had side effects from one statin, you’ll likely have them from another. Do you exercise? Aerobic execise controls my cholesterol pretty well – I don’t need medication at this point.

DK

Q: Estimate the probability that a patient taking the drug will experience flu symptoms.?
In a clinicla trial of Lipitor (atorvastatin), a common drug used to lower cholesterol, one group of patients was given a treatment of 10-mg atorvastatin tablets. That group consists of 19 patients who experienced flu symptoms and 844 patients who did not (based on data from Pfizer, Inc.). Is it “unusual” for a patient taking the drug to experience flu symptoms?

A: The probability estimate, given 19 w/flu and 844 w/o,

19/863 (total group) = .0220 or 2.2%

844/863 = 97.8%

I would say unusual.

Q: question about aripiprazole (abilify) tablets?
I am about to start taking ARIPIPRAZOLE (ABILIFY) tablets in conjunction with seroquil have you done this?
my psychiatrist has just given me these new tablets to try mainly because i was putting on so much weight on just the seroquil

have you taken these tablets before, i need them for PT SD OCD panic attacks and depression

if you could tell me how you got on i am hoping i will feel a bit more part of life on them as at the moment i am just existing

thanks for your answers

A: I’m on albilify and seroquel now. have been since xmas.
seems ok but have noticed Im a bit more irritable but am more alert and awake than I was on seroquel and risperadol. Also I’ve started to lose some of the weight I’ve put on with the other medications I’ve had to take.

You will feel more alive, I can actually imagine myself doing things now and I’m getting them done instead of it just being too hard to even think about them.

All you can do is try it.
Good luck

how long until i see and feel a difference

thanks for your answers

A: Yes I have taken aripiprazole along with Quetiapene (Seroquel). It didnt work for me but everyone is different – it just didnt help my mood or anxiety. I am now on Duloxetine with the seroquel and it has made a great difference, but you just cant say what will work for other people. Hope it works for you!

Q: I want to know the status of a person who is taking tablets such DIFORM 500, TEXY, MANOPROLOL & ARIPIPRAZOLE?
can any of the Psychological doctors answer me

A: Diform 500 : Metformin, for diabetes

Texy – Artane, for Parkinson’s disease

Manoprolol – propanalol, for high BP, migraines,

ARIPIPRAZOLE – antipsychotic, multiple uses

So, the patient likely has diabetes, Parkinson’s, high BP, and mental health issues

Q: I feel like ending my life. i am an OCD patient. Please someone help me. it would be grateful.?
i have obsessive compulsive disorder – a psychartic disease. i am taking medicines since 3 years like flunil , lamictal and since 2 months i am taking abilify – aripiprazole tablets. my obsession has decreased to a great extend. but now what is the problem is that i don’t feel like living.

I WOULD BE VERY HAPPY TO DIE AND I AM EAGERLY WAITING FOR IT. I AM IN A RICH FAMILY RESIDING IN U.A.E. AND SINCE WE HAVE MONEY AND EVERYTHING AFTER MY GRADUATION I AM NOT GOING FOR WORK. I AM 25 YEARS OLD MALE. I HAVE NO FREINDS . ONLY MY PARENTS AND ONE SISTER. I JUST LOVE BODY BUILDING AND EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS I AM AT THE GYM. ONLY THAT TIME I AM VERY HAPPY.

now please don’t tell me to go and work or make friends which i can’t do. there is no way i get a close freind despite being very close to everyone in the gym. i feel like there are lots of people in this world and if i die nothing will change. i just want to see the heaven and don’t know how i will live till 75 years. please help.

A: I’m on Lamictal 100mg three times a day
… . …
I have found that taking the herb tea “Tension Tamer” has helped and I have gotten herb books and found that there are herbs that are available in tea form that have a 2 – 3000 year history behind them
.. .. ..
And they don’t tear up the insides of you like most of all that mankind invents in a laboratory
.. .. ..
Ginkgo and geinsing tea

Q: Abilify [Aripiprazole]…Who takes it or has tried it?
My doctor gave me 5mg Tablets today to try for a while because I didn’t like taking Lithium…[Which he wanted me to take the Abilify and the Lithium together, but I don't want to, lol.] If you’ve tried Abilify, please tell me about it. Did it work? What side effects did you get? Etc. Thanks!
I’m taking it for Bi-Polar also, what is everyone else taking it for? I just read on medicinenet.com that it’s used for Schizophrenia?

A: Haven’t used it personally, but we’ve started a number of our patients on it (India). By far the reports are promising. We give it our patients with either schizophrenia or psychosis but also to some of our bipolar patients who respond very well to it. It’s got a very different mode of action and far far less side-effects than so many of the other neuroleptics (Clozaril, Seroquel etc).

If you do take Lithium, I’m sure you’re doc would have told you, but you would need to have frequent tests to monitor the levels of Lithium in your system because it has a very low toxic:therapeutic ratio.

Hope this helps you in some way.

Q: Why aren’t I losing weight?
I’m 16 years of age, 173cms, and I weigh 70kgs. I’m on Aripiprazole and Fluoxetine tablets. For two weeks, I have carefully watched my diet, exercised on my exercise bike – I burn anywhere between 200 and 400 calories a day – and I haven’t lost a single pound. I recently discovered that the Amulsulpride I was on had a weight gain side effect, so I’ve stopped taking it. I also know that Aripiprazole has a very, very rare – less than 1 in 10′000 people have it – weight gain side effect. I weighed myself yesterday – eleven stone exactly. I just weighed myself now – 11 stone 5. What the hell is going on with my weight and how do I slim down to 64kgs?
Also, I am a severe haemophiliac and can’t do most sports.
I don’t have a man’s intake of 2500 calories and I’ve just burned 255 calories just now. I burned 150 earlier and 200 in the morning. And that’s all happened today. Good enough?

A: you are not losing wait because you are gaining muscles

Q: A New Drug?
First off,
I’m going through Peg-Intron & Ribavirin treatment for hcv
My doctor has started me on “ABILIFY” (aripiprazole) My trouble is he told me to start with two 10 mg tablets at night! The next day I was very light headed? (I drive a city bus) And now I have been taking only one 10 mg tablet for 3 nights now. I’m not as light headed all the time But, I now spill & drop things Very Often! I also catch myself spacing out! Is there other drugs that would help me with my mood changes / depression and won’t make me look like a fool (dropping things, and spacing out) I’ve spoke with my doctor and he wants me to stay on the same meds 20 mg(“it takes everyone a while to get use to this drug”) I forgot to ask him what is this drug for? Has anyone else had this trouble? HELP! What should I do? Stay on 20 mg? Or stay depressed & foolish and take 10 mg ?? Thanks Everyone

A: First of all – aripiprazole isn’t an antidepressant – so the dude who recommended St. John’s Wort (which has only been shown to be effective in mild-moderate depression) needs to get his facts straight. I am from Canada and this drug is not yet available here, so I did a little research for you. Aripiprazole is a novel antipsychotic which is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia and as a mood stabalizer in bipolar disorder. I can tell you that normally with this type of medication you do develop a tolerance to the side effects you are experiencing (the clumsiness and dizziness). We can minimize these effects by titrating the dose (ie: start with a lower dose and slowly increase it as tolerated). However, sometimes people do not tolerate a medication well and we have to try another medication. There are many options available for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. But it takes time to find the right drug for you. Without knowing your full medical history I couldn’t make any recommendations. Trial and error (and giving the drug a real chance to work) are important. Stick it out for a few more days……then try the 20 mg again. If its still too much for you, try 15……then 20 again. You need to be open and honest with your doctor. Work together to find the right medication and dose for you. Each person is unique and finding the right medication for you may take some time. You need to committ to getting your life back.

Q: I can’t sleep can any one help me?
I am currently taking aripiprazole 20mg for psychosis and fluxoxetine 20mg for depression I am also taking zolpidem 10mg but the 10Mg’s of zolidem is not enough (its a sleeping tablet like zopiclone) 20Mg’s is enough for me but my doctor said that I must only take 10Mg’s, I wake at 2am and feel very very anxious as if something terrible is going to happen.

I will be seeing my psychiatrist this friday, does any one know how I can convince him that 10mg sleeping tablets are not working and also do you know what is a good strong drug for anxiety.

A: I can help you get right to sleep. You dont need no meds for this either.

A: well perhaps the heat is getting to your brain out in the mid east, but if you are not willing to try anything except what y ou want then you will always be struggling. 25 y/o male living with parents? why? You are an adult how about act like one !!!! If you don’t have friends that is only your fault, you don’t even attempt to try. You want to be lazy and NOt work just because y ou have money. What a cop out! Many people with lots of money still work. How about pride in one self. IF you seem to have “fun” body building then do that more then two hours a day, not like you have anything else to do or that you will attempt to do. Everyone is in control of their own life and it is only what YOU make of it. Either get up and do something positive about it or quit bitching about wanting to die when you apparently have almost everything but even that isn’t enough cause here you are complaining.

A: Hey– I’ve been there. Your parents would cry every day for the rest of their lives. The people you know at the gym would miss you too! But most of all– what if there isn’t a heaven? And you stop this one chance, this amazing miracle of life you’ve got–you end it– and that was it? Here’s what I did when I felt bad– I thought of just one thing I like, or love. You love the gym. Think of something else you love–pancakes, green grass, kissing, anything. Imagine not having that? Are you curious about what the sunrise or sunset will look like tomorrow? Fight for your right to be happy, or fulfilled. Maybe you could work at the gym? I bet you’d be great at it! OR–maybe you should talk to your doctor and get on another medicine. I was on lithium once and it was the wrong thing and I felt so bad. Two days after I got off of it I felt like a different person– and was so scared that I might have killed myself! Things DO CHANGE. You know they do! You must be someone who knows endurance–use that! Be well and be with us. Trust me, we need you here.

A: aripiprazole- that is probably the problem. I use Prozac. I know People that used aripiprazole, and they ALL felt the way you do.
I am Also O.C.D. Get off the aripiprazole. and start realizing there is nothing wrong with being O.C.D., it’s just our way of becoming satisfied and happy.

A: I know how you feel. I was there and I’ve dealt wfriends that were in the same situation. Since you don’t want advice about getting a job or making friends the only advice I’m going to give you is spiritual advice. Maybe what you need is a relationship with God. That’s what helped me. I felt that I had no purpose in life and that there wasn’t anything worth living for. I started learning about God and what he asks of us. I am now very happy and doing God’s will. Maybe that’s what you need to get your head above water so to speak. Just a suggesstion but if you’re interested I know alot of people that would be willing to help you…..I can get people in your area too

Q: Does anyone know if either Tamoxifen or Anastrozole have any affect on Dry MD?

A: I am guessing you mean dry AMD (macular degeneration). Tamoxifen can cause a certain macular retinopathy with very high doses and if given over a long period of time. The sort of doses that are generally administered after breast cancer does not cause this retinopathy and is completely unrelated to AMD

Q: Are the folling two steroids?
Tamoxifen citrate and anastrozole

A: Tamoxifen is a drug used in hormone therapy in cancer (breast cancer). However, the way it works is by interacting with the Estrogen receptor, so you could consider it a “steroid” to some extent.

Tamixifen citrate has quite a few applications for the steroid using athlete. First and foremost, it´s most common use is for the prevention of gynocomastia. It does this by actually competing for the receptor site in breast tissue, and binding to it. The effect of tamoxifen is through estrogen receptor blockade of breast tissue, especially since total body estradiol increases with use of tamoxifen.

Anastrozole is what we call an aromatase inhibitor (AI). In clinical use, it´s used to halt the progression of Breast Cancer in women. It works by blocking the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for the production of estrogen. In athletics and bodybuilding, it is used as an ancillary compound to be added to a cycle of Anabolic Steroids. In this respect it is also used for its estrogen reducing properties, but it has the additional benefit of increasing testosterone levels.

Many anabolic steroids aromatize (convert to estrogen via the aromatase enzyme), and this is responsible for many of the unwanted side effects found with anabolic steroid use (acne, gynocomastia, water-retention, etc…). Be careful if you are planning to use them.

Q: What are the side effects when using SERMs or AIs?
If I were to use SERMs or AI, what are the side effects?
SERMs= Clomiphene Citrate (Clomid), Tamoxifen (Nolvadex), Toremifene Citrate (Fareston), and Raloxifene hydrochloride (Evista).

AIs=Anastrozole (Arimidex), Aromasin (Exemestane), and Letrozole (Femara).
I hope I didn’t need to write this, but no, I’m not going to use them at the same time.
IF I decide to use something, I won’t use a SERM with an AI, instead I’ll aim to use them separately. I’ll look into that, because if I CAN use both at the same time, I probably will aim for that.
Toremifene: Some possible side effects include the risk of stroke, pulmonary embolism, and cataracts.
Anybody with a serious answer? These aren’t for any kind of performance, but more like keeping E levels down for example when you age, or when you use steroids.

There are natural ways, I know, but are there any side effects IF I would use a SERM or AI?
I’m here, I’ll be giving out the Best Answer award, but all I need is to know of any possible side effects, if there are any at all.

I’ll still give out the BA if you mail me.(of course you still have to post something on my answer)

A: Do you have breast cancer?

I took Arimidex for five years. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to take such a drug other than to do all they could to prevent recurrence or metasasis of a filthy, life-threatening disease.

That some people take them to improve sporting performance beggars belief.
====

Edit: My answer is deadly serious.

Still, you want the side effects of Arimidex – here they are:

Stiff, aching joints.

Hot flushes

Hair thinning/loss.

Insomnia

Headaches

Depression

Weight gain.

Tiredness and lethargy

Those are the ones I had myself. The joint pain and stiffness was particularly severe, and that has been the case for almost every other Arimidex user I’ve met through breast cancer support networks.

The rest are side effects of Arimidex that I personally didn’t have. I know a number of breast cancer patients who had/have the first one though – two have oesteopenia:

Loss of the mineral content of bones; risk of osteoporosis.

Vaginal dryness

Nausea, vomiting) and diarrhoea

Headaches .

Skin rashes

Vaginal bleeding

I chose Arimidex over Tamoxifen because the side effects were less horrific.

Common Tamoxifen side effects include hot sweats, fatihue, joint pain, nausea. Every woman I know who had to take it gained weight.

Less common side effects are depression and hair thinning.

Rarer side effects are liver changes, eye problems and womb cancer.

I had to take one of these drugs to help save my life. I wouldn’t have touched them with a bargepole otherwise. Serious enough for you?

Q: Advair Diskus?
Hi there,

Is anyone on the inhaled corticosteroid asthma medicine Advair Diskus ? I have been on it for 8 months 2x daily and had bad side effects while on it. last week i got a thrush cause i think the powder staed on my tongue. so i stopped using it cold turkey and had bad muscle joint aches etc…. anyone on it with side effect you could share with me please?
hey thanks

no i think that5 might be the problem, sometimes at nights when i wasnt breathing well id use it and go back to bed without rinsing my mouth- had no idea this would happen

A: Advair contains a steroid which shouldn’t be abruptly stopped, it should be slowly weaned from the body to prevent the side effects that you’ve described.
Also, as with any other inhaled steroid, you should always rinse your mouth after using. The body produces sugar in it’s metabolizing corticosteroids, so the excess sugar in the mouth causes a yeast infection called thrush. It’s easy to get rid of, but easier to acquire again if rinsing and spitting techniques aren’t utilized.
Advair is a fantastic drug and works wonders for airway constriction and inflammation. I recommend that you stay on it if it worked for you and modify your routine to include a vigorous swishing and spitting regimen afterwards.
I hope I’ve helped, God bless.

Q: advair diskus?
does advair shorten your life span

A: http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/advisory/LABA.htm

“Today, FDA requested manufacturers of Advair Diskus, Foradil Aerolizer, and Serevent Diskus to update their existing product labels with new warnings and a Medication Guide for patients to alert healthcare professionals and patients that these medicines may increase the chance of severe asthma episodes, and death when those episodes occur. “

http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/InfoSheets/patient/fluticasonePIS.pdf

“Advair Diskus may worsen your breathing problems. Long-acting beta-adrenergic agonists, such as salmeterol, an active ingredient in Advair Diskus, may increase the chance of asthma death in some people.”

Q: what effects does the advair diskus have on sperm?
My husband takes the advair diskus, proventil, allegra D,and singulair would that affect our chances of conceiving?

A: No, it’s fine but it’s best to talk to the doctor or call the company.

Q: How can I tell if I’ve actually gotten an Advair dose from the diskus?
I was just prescribed the Advair diskus and I can’t feel any sensation of a powder or spray from the diskus entering my mouth or any taste or odor from it. Is this to be expected or am I doing something wrong in handling the diskus?

A: You may feel as though you haven’t received your dose even though you have. This is very common. Many people do not taste or feel the dose. Don’t worry, you have received your dose. Do not take an additional dose. It’s important to follow your doctor’s advice and take the recommended dose of Advair they have prescribed. Advair is taken twice a day, every day—once in the morning and once at night, approximately 12 hours apart.

You may notice some improvement within 30 minutes of using the Advair. Maximum results may take a week or longer. Even if you don’t see immediate improvement in your asthma, it’s important to keep using Advair twice a day, every day, as directed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

If you forget a dose, just take it as soon as you do remember. If it’s close to the time of your next dose, just wait until your scheduled time to take your next dose, do not take an additional dose.

The most common side effects that people experience when using it are ear, nose, and throat irritation, respiratory symptoms, headaches, stomach irritation, and general muscle aches, most of which should diminish with time. See your doctor if you continue to experience any of these symptoms. Or consult your doctor if you have severe symptoms, develop hives, a rash, swelling, or have an asthma attack that you can’t treat with your short-acting bronchodilator, such as albuterol, or your other regular medication.

See links below.

Rick the Pharmacist

Q: What are the side effects of ADVAIR diskus and is it safe?
My Dr. prescribed me ADVIAR and I rememebr seeign the commercial for it but the side effects seemed extreme.

If you have ever taken ADVAIR or if you are common with it, can you tell me the side effects that come with it and if it is really recommended to take?

The thought of steroids does not sound pleasant.
I am very iffy about taking this medicine because I do not have Asthma, but sometimes my bronchial tubes feel tight.

A: I have been taking ADVAIR diskus for about a week now and I have noticed no real problems with the drug. When my doctor gave me ADVAIR, I showed some concern about taking a steroid twice daily, but she told me that the side effects of this one are not the same as those of say, Prednisone. She said I would have no trouble and I have not had any. I have done some research on steroids because I have been put on them before for my lungs, and yeah the side effects are scary. The reason this one is different is because it is inhaled as opposed to taken orally. Essentially, it gets the medicine only where it really needs to be, in your lungs. I have noticed that I do not have quite as many troubles with my lungs daily, which makes me ever glad to be on it. So good luck, and hopefully you will like me, have no problems with this medication.

Q: Can you get thrush from Advair Diskus?
I take Advair Diskus and I took it a few times this week without washing my mouth out. Can this cause thrush? I have thrush and I am wondering if this was the potential cause.

A: Yes, that is a very reasonable cause. The fluticasone ingredient can suppress the immune system making it easier for opportunistic pathogens to flurish. That’s why it’s recommended to always rinse out your mouth after using the Advair diskus.

Q: What happens if I accidentally blew into my advair diskus?
I was taking my dose for this morning and I accidentally blew in. When I inhaled, powder still was in it. When I exhaled into the device, did it take away powder from every dose, and what should I do about it?

A: you are fine. i have done that a few times myself

Q: Can someone tell me the difference between Advair Diskus and Symbicort? Which works better for asthma?

A: Well it’s like Coke and Pepsi. What’s your flavor? Both have a steroid and a Long Acting Beta Agonists drug in them. Most people who get advair get the diskus. It’s a big bulky purple disk that contains a powder. Advair has an inhaler but I dont see that used as much for some reason. If you choose Advair, ask for the HFA inhaler not the disckus.

As far as inhaling the powder, it takes more force and some do not like inhaling a powder when they are having a breathing problem.

The doctor will have samples of both, I would suggest trying one or the other for at least a month. If you don’t think its working, switch.

Q: Does using the advair diskus and the singulair tablet cause cold symptoms to be worse when they occur?
my son has been asthmatic since he was three months old.We are now controlling is with advair and singulair taken daily. He is seven years old about eighty four pounds and an otherwise healthy kid.I just read and article that said that it is harder for them to figt off an infection like bronchitis when using the advair diskus.I also read that the cases were more severe and that more kids died from it I want to know a little more about this if at all possible.

A: Advair dose have a steroid component to it. While it is true that steroids decrease the body’s immunity a bit, the fact of the matter is that they are also invaluable in the treatment of multiple inflammatory diseases such as asthma. All medicines shuld be looked in the context of risk-benefit. If the benefits of taking the medicine consistently outweigh the risks , then it is worth it to stay on the medicine. While you should definitely ask this question to the MD who prescribed the Advair, I am of the opinion that the steroid dose in the Advair is not enough to significantly affect the outcomes of bronchitis or colds that your child may catch. This may be more true when one is taking high dose steroids in the form of pills or injections.

Q: using Advair Diskus 250 inhaler while breastfeeding?
my appointment with the doctor is after 2 days .. im having a temprory asthma so i started taking Advair Diskus 250, coz the doctor gave it to me the last time i got the same symptoms

am fully breastfeeding so is it safe for tje baby?

A: It is not known if Advair (fluticasone and salmeterol) is passed through breast milk. Because of the potential serious side effects that could occur in the nursing infant, the manufacturer of Advair does not recommend that Advair be used in women who are breastfeeding. Therefore, make sure to let your physician know (prior to taking Advair) if you are breastfeeding or thinking of breastfeeding.

No research has been done to see if Advair is passed through breast milk in humans. Because the usual recommended dosage of Advair causes only very low levels of the medication in the blood, it is unlikely that Advair would be passed through breast milk at high enough levels to cause problems. Therefore, it is thought that Advair is probably safe for many women who are breastfeeding.

Q: Difference between ADVAIR DISKUS and ADVAIR HFA?
I have asthma and was put on advair 115/21 HFA just wondering what the difference was between the 250/50 advair diskus and the advair HFA inhaler. How long does the advair take to start to work thank you for answering

A: The idiot who wrote to you to get off the advair is almost certainly not a doctor and telling you to get off any prescription unless your a doctor is criminal negligence should something happen to you from following that dunskies advice, It has been shown to increase the risk of asthma related death, specifically, when you have an asthma attack, your lungs will slam shut suddenly, this only happens in a very small percentage of people however, DO NOT STOP any medication without first talking to your doctor about a replacement.

Q: Is taking advair diskus safe during pregnancy?
i just found out i was prengant and have been taking advair diskus 100/50 and singulair is that okay

A: Both are pregnancy friendly

Q: Has anyone had any hyperactivity due to taking Advair diskus inhaler?
My 5 year old recently was changed to the Advair diskus and has experienced some hyperactivity since the change and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

A: Yes, listen to the respiratory therapist, and not the ones that encourage you to 1. self medicate or 2. doubt your doctor. Every situation is different, and your doctor actually knows your child and their specific circumstances. Of course, talk to your doctor about this, as they may have some suggestions or material for you to read about it.
It is very common for children to become hyper on respiratory meds. I have an 8 yr. old that began breathing treatments and inhalers when he was three due to complications from pneumonia and RSV. Oh, I really did not like to have to give him his “puffer” when we were getting ready to go some where, and at the time it was 2 nebulizer treatments a day and his inhaler every 4 hours! UGH bouncing off the walls. But now, 5 years later, his treatments are on an as needed basis, so the effects are not constant. Plus, usually he only needs one during strenuous exercise, so the effects aren’t as noticeable. But, every now and then, he will need one while we are hanging out at home, and…..well, you know!!!
Hang in there!

Q: Does anyone use Advair Diskus for breathing problems? Is it helpful?
I just started Advair Diskus today and I haven’t felt the effects yet. Does anyone else use it? Is it helpfil?

A: I think Advair is a preventitive medicine and doesn’t provide the immediate relief of Albuterol. The benefit of taking Advair is that after taking it for a week or two it builds up in your system and will help prevent future attacks. For immediate relief, Albuterol is the medicine to take.

Q: Allergy Asthma? Advair Diskus 500/50, Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray. What is the difference?
I’m a female, 33, never had asthma in my life, but recently i been having shortness of breaths which causes me to cough and i cant get any relief. the cold weather and cold drinks seems to trigger it. the nurse prescribed me the nasal spray, i havent got it yet. My boyfriend has advair, whats the difference?

A: The Nasal spray will clear your sinuses so they don’t drip down the back of your throat. The Advair has a steroid that helps strengthens your lungs defenses against Asthma flair ups, so don’t take the Advair without consulting your doctor first. You could also try asking your doctor if he could prescribe Zyrtec for indoor and outdoor allergies.

A: You have got to be kidding! You really believe these drugs are going to cure your problem? Oh, wait, the drug companies, and there are literally hundreds of them, are telling you this is an incurable disease, right?

This is the most unbelievable farce ever jammed down American’s throat. The drug companies know what is really causing the problem and how to fix it, but they sold approximately $50 billion dollars worth of the garbage you listed in your question last year. Why would they want to stop that cash flow and do something very simple and stop the so called disease they’ve given a fancy name to, “gerd.”

I cannot believe drug companies would actually do this to people.

So called “Acid indigestion” or acid reflux is a result of rotting, undigested, fermenting food that is not getting broken down in the stomach because there is not enough stomach acid. When the food starts to rot, LACTIC ACID is produced and this is what is causing the problem, NOT stomach acid.

When you take one of those brilliantly conceived antacids, acid is neutralized, both stomach acid and the lactic acid. Now the rotting, undigested, fermenting pile of food moves down the intestines and produces toxins, compacts the colon area and overloads the liver and kidneys with toxins. Additionally, your calcium, magnesium, and zinc do not get digested! These three minerals are normally absorbed in the jejunum (upper part of the small intestine), but ONLY if the pH is low from the acidic stomach as it lets the minerals pass into the jejunum. If you’ve taken that antacid, the pH is high and these minerals will not get digested. One of the best jokes of all time is when Tums puts Calcium Carbonate (blackboard chalk) in their product. All this does is pass on through because Tums has raised the pH and the calcium now becomes a toxin the liver has to get rid of. Many kidney stones have been caused by this garbage!

The next time you get acid indigestion, do the following and you will be amazed at how fast the problem goes away.

Go to: www.healthline.cc (not .com) and purchase the following:

Betaine HCL — take 2 to 4 of these after your meal.
Activator — take 1 to 2 of these after your meal.
Quantum Digest — take 1 to 2 of these with your meal.
Nucleotides — take 6 of these per day.
Pink Sea Salt — take 1 tsp. per day on food. (get rid of the white, blanched, table salt you are using. It’s garbage)
Probiotic — take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening with keifer milk.

The HCL and Activator will stop the acid reflux or acid indigestion in less than 3 minutes. The reason is that this acid is digesting your food, killing the nano bacteria that can cause heart disease and the one that causes diabetes type II.

The digest provides the digestive enzymes that have been cooked out of your food.

The nucleotides will boost your immune system to help heal any issues you have created by using the drugs.

The probiotics will replenish the good bacteria in your intestines and help get rid of the bad bacteria you have been building up by using the antacid garbage.

The pink sea salt is loaded with minerals and the cl- ion from the salt will help you generate your own HCL from your body.

I buy the above by the case from the company listed above. The HCL costs about $11 for a month’s supply. Compare that cost with what the other antacid garbage costs from your favorite drug company. Now add the additional costs for the other drugs you are buying to fix the diarrhea or constipation. Now add the cost of the osteoporosis drugs and heart drugs due to the damaged liver, kidney, and gall bladder from the other drugs.

Try this and you won’t believe how it will fix your problem.

Drug companies know that as we age, we produce less and less stomach acid. Rather than fixing the problem inexpensively, they choose the other route. At age 70, you will only be producing about 5% of what you did at 25 – 30. It’s no wonder older people become severely nutrient deficient.

Additionally, this is the reason people start putting on weight around the middle because they are not digesting their food like they did when they were younger.

You will also notice that your bowels will be moving much better and you will become more regular.

One more benefit from nourishing your body rather than abusing it with drugs is that you will add about 30 – 35 years to your life expectancy by doing the above. The HCL and Activator re-methylate your cells like eating raw, uncooked food does.

good luck to you

Q: BLADDER PROBLEM!!!! HELP!!!!!!?
i am a teenager and have had a bladder problem for about 9 months. i have had the constant feeling to pee and it hasnt gone away. even after i pee i feel like i have to go. the feeling is 24/7. my mom took me to a urology doctor and he diagnosed me with an overactive bladder. ive tried just about every medication from vesicare, toviaz, ditropane, enabalax. It wont go away!!!! I then had a cystoscopy and everything was okay. What should i do????????????? By the way i dont have any infections

A: Hi,

Is there a possibility that you might be drinking too much liquids? Especially soda, since it has a lot of sugar in it. It will constantly force your body to want to expel the excess sugar by peeing.

Q: serious health question?
i just started a new medication called vesicare for bladder control i was not on anything else when i started taking it about 2 weeks or so ago.
for about a week or more since then i have had a abnormal overwhelming sense of sadness and feeling blue and wanting to cry for no reason in particular. it want go away. its like a black cloud hanging over my head. i don’t want to do anything and nothing helps. i wonder if it has anything to do with the meds? even though i saw no side effects like this in the drug information.!!!! also i just started taking allegra 180mg for allergy’s that’s only been a few days ago but now im getting the shakes and jittery. i want to ask about other peoples side effects on that too. thank you so much please reply as soon as you can. down and out in south hills…..ps im not pregnant and i am 41 years old. i was pretty much ok till around the time i started taking this medicine. there really were not any side effects other than maybe this.
surely someone out there has used this medication. al i want to know is the side effects other people have had on it. and if they continue or subside afterawhile!!
i go to a clinic it is not that easy to just go back to doctor and ask questions you have to make a appt and wait for hours. i dont want to do that for a simple question. thanks.

A: I think that you should return to your doctor and just get checked out, they may be able to give you something which gives you less side effects or narrow down which medication is causing you problems… take care

Q: Persistent Dysuria (Recurrant UTI, VUR + Hutch Diverticula)?
I am a 19 Year Old Female, and ever since i can remember it has always hurt when I’ve been to the toilet, not during urination but after. Every single time without fail, post urination i get this strange pain, sort of stinging/burning/muscular. It wasnt till recently that i actually discovered that it wasn’t normal to have this (1-2 years ago)

Anyway a year ago i had really bad pyleonephritis that landed me in hosptial for 2 weeks. After that i was referred to a urolgist, who reffered me to another, who sent me to get a Micutating Cysto Urethrogram. The results were that i had Right Side VUR and a Hutch Diverticlum.
I was operated on 2 Months ago, to correct the VUR and Remove the diverticulum. Had a follow up Ultrasound to say that everything was ok – it was. And ive just come of being on antibiotics (been on them for a year)

BUT still i have persistant Dysuria – i know the operation wasnt for that but does anyone experience this as well? or know what the causes are? My Bladder wall is hypertrophied too, i dont have urinary frequence, i dont need to go at night, i can hold my urine pretty well although sometimes i may leak.

Dr thinks its over active bladder, but i dont respond to the OAB medications such as vesicare or oxybutynin?

Can someone please give me some insight or ideas or some sort of feedback. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

A: It sounds like urethral stenosis because you have dysuria (difficulty urinating). My daughter was born with it and had to have her urethra stretched when she was a baby and again when she was 30 years old. Doctors don’t normally look for stenosis and often, erroneously, attribute it to UTI. The second time my daughter went for the stenosis the urologist asked her if she had been having rough sex or had injured herself with a sex toy. She got angry and told him that she had a history of urethral stenosis not rough sex.

I hope this will give you some ideas. Get well soon.

Q: I have had frequent urination for the past year and have been to many doctors but dont know whats wrong?
Actually i did have a cystoscopy in january that found out that my trigone of the bladder was inflamed, other than that though, there was nothing wrong. Ive been on numerous medications such as detrol and vesicare, but am not taking any as of now. Basically i still go about every hour, though the medicine has helped me hold it somewhat, this week has been tough though because i feel i have to go every 15 minutes. Im also wondering whether i may have something from asbestos expsosre because it started about a year ago after remodeling with a house and taking down asbestos insulation
By the way im only 19 so i know this is not normal, i also have trouble getting erection (although ive never had sex, boners dont come easy anymore) idk whats up i just know i dont feel right
Ive had a few blood tests and they havent shown that ive had diabetes and i havent really lost weight (ik that losing weoght is a symptom of diabetes), and i did tell the urologist i was exposed to asbestos, but he just said maybe it caused an allergy in the trigone region but i will get a blood test again for diabetes.
also i have talked with many doctors including my family one and a urologist nothin has been found

A: Urinary incontinence and OAB is very rare in someone your age. This maybe a sign that something else is going on that you may want to go have checked out. I would limit the amount of fluids you are taking in. But Rx you were on are to treat OAB, perhaps you need to be back on them. I would talk to your family doctor about this.

Q: What could be causing my overactive bladder problems? any insight!?
I’m 24 years old and for the last 8-12 months I’ve been having overactive bladder problems. I have other symptoms that could be thyroid related and I’ve already gotten 3 opinions on that. My levels for that are low-normal. A 4th opinion will be in my future, as I know even OPRAH had to get a lot of opinions before finding a true answer.

Anyways, I’m really not sure what could be causing it. I visited a Urologist and had some tests preformed. he found that after I void there is still a decent amount of urine in my bladder, so when I leave the restroom it’s not long 5 minutes or less before I need to go again. He did a cystoscopy and did not find any signs of IC (interstital cystitis), so he put me on Vesicare for my frequency problems. initially the 5mg helped, but I recently increased to 10mg and I’m finding no relief at this point. I’, beginning to wonder if my problems are related to other medications I’m on.

I’m currently on:
Lamictal for moods (something that can be related to thyroid if that ends up being the issue.)
Klonopin for Anxiety. A very small dose. half a .5mg tablet 2x a day.
Ortho Evra birth control patch. been on it 6 years, not sure if it could be related?!?!
and other than that I’m on vitamin D because I live in an area with little sun and fish oil to help with seasonal depression. both of these I started AFTER the bladder problems had already been happening.

Does anyone have any insight or ideas that I could investigate or present to my doctors? I’m really at my wit’s end and I already have anxiety, which is only exacerbated by the frequency because I have to pull over to use restrooms when I’m out and I no longer go very far from home because it’s too hard.

HELP!!!!!!!

A: sounds like IBS

A: Overactive Bladder is also a sign of Diabetes. Have you tried a REALLY healthy diet and exercise?

Q: Burning Sensation when urinating. Slow/Weak urine stream?
Hi! I am a 39 years old male. Married faithfully for 10 years. Approximately 11 months ago i developed urinary problems. Whenever i would go to relief myself, i would feel a little burning sensation at the tip of my penis as well the mid shaft area (I am sorry if that’s an incorrect way or referring to it). My urine would come slow/weak and the stream would become slow and then get stronger. These symptoms were accompanied by frequent visits to the bathroom.

My first urologist told me that it was either prostatitis or enlarged prostate. My urine tests came back with negative results and PSA was also good. I was prescribed Cipro for the first two month. When the probelm persisted, I was then prescribed a combination of Uroxatral and SULFAMETHOXAZOLE TMP DS TABITP. This combination helped somewhat with the burning sensation as well the flow (somewhat). I went to him once more and, once more he prescribed the same two medications. My condition did not improve much so i changed my doctor last month.

I am told by my new doctor that i dont have a enlarged prostate but an inflamed one. Once again i was prescribed SULFAMETHOXAZOLE…., as well as Flomax and Naproxen.

After a month of being on the above medication, my condition is still the same. Has anyone else experienced what i am experiencing or any urologists/specialist that can diagnose what might be wrong with me?

p.s
(no problem with erections either)

A: Any history of diabetes with you or family relatives? What is your diet like? Try cutting out the carbs. If overweight, try losing some pounds. Any elevations of blood glucose levels will increase risk for urinary tract infections. Also, caffeine and sodas can irritate the urinary system.

Also, there are some autoimmune disorders related to urethritis. Any joint or skin disorders? Reiters syndrome is associated with this problem. Also, any problems with your eyes such as inflammation?
